Scientific Research My main research interests are in the area of Robotics and Advanced Teleoperation, specifi- cally robots surgery, search and rescue, networked robots, and haptics. My research was published in more than 200 journal and refereed conference papers.

Academic Duties My teaching philosophy is based on involving students in projects to strengthen their learning. This approach well matches the possibilities offered by Robotics as a specific subject and/or as a teaching tool for other subjects.

Administrative Activities University Coordinator of Innovation and Technology Transfer activities; De- partment Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Computer Science.

Laboratory (2001) Founded ALTAIR, to carry out research in service robotics.

Doctoral Thesis 16 PhD students, of which 6 are on going, at the University of Verona, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), and the Universitad Nacional de San Juan (Argentina).
